Make Up Application and Finishing

Foundation

A small amount is all that is necessary, not half the bottle or tube because you have removed the flaky, dry and uneven texture before you started. Apply three, small, flat pea sized shapes to each cheek: two on the forehead and one each to the nose and chin. Using a make up sponge, blend gently. Don't forget to include over and under the jawbone and over the eyelids in your blending so that no line of demarcation (color or shadow) shows when you are finished. The skin will now appear smooth, even and ready to accept the application of powder which will set your foundation.

Powder

Do not use a compact powder,  always use Loose Powder for a flawless and "uncaked" looking finish. Loose powder comes with a shaker top or lid so a small amount of powder may be put in the lid.

Take your powder pad (do not use a brush, cotton ball, puff or sponge), and press down firmly on the powder.

Grind the pad with powder firmly into the palm of your hand. This "fixes" the powder into the puff. Since the powder is IN the pad and not ON it, you may now begin applying the powder to your skin. Gently, but firmly, Roll and Pat the powder on the surface of your skin including eyelids and neck.

Using a large "powder only" brush 2 inches in diameter, gently remove or lightly brush off any residue of powder from the skin. Try this procedure and see what you think of the improvement in your make up. This procedure "fixes" or sets the powder on the foundation. It will now appear smoother, more flawless and radiant, but more importantly, it will not wear off by Noon.

Concealer

How to use Sage Advice Cream Foundation/Concealer

This product is quite unique as it can be used as a concealer and a great foundation, for light to heavy coverage!  It is really great for people with normal to dry or dry skin, and those with combination skin can wear it well too.

People with very oily skin are better off with the Sage Advice Dual Powder Compact Foundation which has been wonderful at keeping the oilies and breakouts away!  For the best manipulation of this product as a concealer it is wise to use a good brush.  Our Taklon Camouflage Brush is an excellent tool for this process! Simply take the very end of the brush and lightly dip the bristles in the product, just using a tiny amount of is enough to cover a large area!  For instance, if you wanted to cover dark circles under the eyes, take a tiny amount of product on the brush and then take the brush and with very light circular motion from your wrist, apply the product.  The very best way to spread a product like this into the skin and get very natural coverage is to use circular motion with your hand until satisfied.  You will find that a tiny amount really goes a long way!  If you want to cover a blemish or discoloration on the face, simply dip the brush into the product and again use a tiny amount, and brush lightly onto the area you want covered.  Again, use circular wrist motions to spread evenly.  You can even paint this product on the face with this special brush as if it was a paintbrush and it does well that way too!

To use as a foundation for heavier coverage, the best tool to use is a soft foundation sponge. Dip one end of the sponge into the product, again using a  small amount, and lightly spread across the face. If your skin is dry you may want to apply Old Lady Cream, Gelloid, MSSR Hydrating Mask, or whichever moisturizer you use first, and the foundation will go on nice and smooth.  The most amazing thing about this product is that it is very concentrated yet creamy and soft and the coverage is quite flawless.  A little bit goes a long way as you will find out!  This product is especially good at concealing redness and splotchiness many experience with rosacea, as well as old acne scars and any discoloration. It is also excellent for under eye coverage.

One Last Word of Advice for Your Make Up Application

Now that your Canvas is ready for the application of color enhancement, blush, lips, eyes, etc., remember that LESS is definitely BETTER. By applying small amounts of color you may always add more if necessary, however, it is very difficult to remove enough. When using applicators or brushes, brush gently on the product and blow gently on the applicator before applying to your eyes, cheeks, etc. This prevents the sprinkling of unwanted color in the wrong place and removes excess product from the applicator.
